How to Mount Flow Bindings

Flow bindings are one of the more modern technologies in the snowboarding game and are most notable for their power strap, which allows more boot and binding flexibility and control. Flow bindings install almost exactly like other snowboard bindings. While the strap and cable technologies Flow bindings employ are innovative, as with any binding, the hardest part to mounting Flow bindings is determining a comfortable riding stance; it often takes a boarding session to determine the right stance. Otherwise, the installation process is simple enough for even beginning riders.

Instructions

  1. Binding Length

    • 1

Remove the power strap from the binding. Unlock the highback lever on the back of the binding.

    • 2

Place an empty snowboard boot in the binding to check the fit. If the boot has major toe or heel over hang, the binding length needs to be adjusted. Remove the boot from the binding.

    • 3

Loosen the highback screws on the outsides of binding using the screwdriver. Slide the highback backward to the desired length.

    • 4

Loosen the toe and heel ramp screws found on the inside bottom of the binding using the screwdriver. Slide the toe and heel ramps outward to the desired length.

    • 5

Loosen screws on the toe strap using the screwdriver. Slide the toe straps outward to adjust for the moved toe ramp.

    • 6

Place the boot back in the binding to determine proper fit. Remove the boot and tighten all screws into place using the screwdriver.

    Binding Stance

    • 7

Determine whether your stance is regular, or left-footed, or goofy, also known as right-footed, based on which foot you lead with.

    • 8

Place the bindings onto the snowboard accordingly, regular with left foot forward or goofy with right foot forward. Most riders' stances are slightly wider than shoulder width apart. Place the bindings at a width that feels comfortable.

    • 9

Adjust the bindings to a comfortable angle on the board by turning the bindings inward or outward. Add Combi discs by placing the discs inside the bottom of the binding, turning degree discs to the desired angle; 3 degrees on the back and 15 degrees on the front is a typical starting point.

    • 10

Line up the binding holes with the board holes and add four screws in a crisscross pattern. Tighten the screws using the screwdriver, tightening diagonally lined screws first.

    • 11

Place the power straps back onto the bindings.
