How to Kick a Soccer Ball in the Air
Kicking a soccer ball into the air is a trick that professional soccer players know well, and one that novice players will need to practice diligently in order to learn. Before you are able to kick a ball into the air, you must first understand the basics of kicking. You should always kick with your strong foot and your ankle locked into place. Once you learn how to kick the ball in the air, you will have to practice your new-found skill to gain accuracy. You will need to use the top of your foot to lift the ball off the ground and apply more force to the ball to lift it higher.

- Soccer cleats
- Comfortable, loose clothing

Tie your soccer cleats tightly and make sure that the laces will not get in the way.

Position your kicking foot close to the ball. You have to be close to it to lift it off the ground.

Place your strong foot on the ball, sole down. Roll the ball downward with the top of your foot until it is in a position to lift the ball off of the ground.

Lift upward, underneath the ball, with the top of your foot. After the ball is airborne, kick it again, harder, with the upper part of your foot so that it goes higher. After much practice, these steps should look and feel like one fluid motion. With practice you will learn how much force to apply to make the ball go to the height you desire.
