How to Customize Fielding Softball Gloves

Softball and baseball glove manufacturing is in the beginning of a revolution. In the 1990s, the only way to buy a baseball glove was to go into a sporting goods store and find a model that you liked from off the shelves. That was basically the only choice for any non-professional player. However, as the cost of buying a glove has increased, the possibility of getting a customized glove has become more realistic. You can choose the design of your glove to suit your style of play. A typical adult softball glove bought in a sporting goods store may cost $100 to $150, while a customized glove will cost $175 to $225.

Pick out the size and style of the glove you are going to use. If you usually play outfield, you would probably use a bigger glove to help catch fly balls. If you are an infielder, you most likely want a smaller glove so you can reach in easily and pull out a ground ball.

Choose the type of web you want. You have the option of having a one-piece, single-post, double post, basket or T-web. There's no right or wrong type of web. It's all personal preference.

Get your name stitched into the glove with embroidered letters. When you get your glove customized, this becomes an option. This will go along way toward glove security as nobody will be able to say, "Oh, this looks a lot like my glove."

Choose the color for your glove. In addition to the standard black or tan, you can choose cream, dark brown, gold, gray, navy blue, orange, red, royal blue or white. If you like, you can mix and match with a gold pocket, a royal blue web and royal blue fingers.
