How to Measure Softball Gloves
A brand-new softball glove will cost between $20 and $300 for a premium, top-of-the-line leather model. Outfielders require a glove with a larger pocket, making it easier to catch long-ranging fly balls. Infielders prefer a glove with a shallower pocket designed to make the transition from fielding a softball to throwing it easier. Catchers, and sometimes first basemen, use a mitt with extra padding that absorbs the shock of a pitched or thrown softball. While there are different types of gloves suited for different field positions and levels of play, the guidelines for sizing a softball glove are the same. Adult softball gloves range in size from 11 to 15 inches.
