How to Recruit Co-Ed Softball Players

Playing co-ed softball is a great way to get out into the fresh air, get some exercise and have a little fun with your friends while you're at it. The only problem is that forming a whole team takes a lot of commitment from many people. Here are some tips on how you can recruit co-ed softball players for your team.

      Place an ad online. Sites like Craigslist, Myspapce, Friendster, Facebook and more have become great places for social networking. With a quick message and a click of the mouse, you can invite all of your friends to join your co-ed softball team. Be sure to tell them the time commitment and approximate cost involved. Also tell them the level of softball play. Competitive fast-pitch is a lot different then the slow pitch team from the office. Leave your contact information and let the players come to you.

      Ask around at the office. No matter where you work, talking about something other than work is refreshing. Enter the co-ed softball team you belong to after hours. Invite friends to a practice so they can check it out. Or if your league isn't super strict, invite them to play in a game. Work them in for a few innings or allow them to pitch hit. They'll feel like part of the team in no time.

      Bring it up with members of your Church. This is another great place to recruit people. Especially as you already have the same faith in common with them.

      Call the local Park and Recreation office and see if they'll post it. Park and Recreation offices usually oversee the fields and sometimes even the leagues themselves. See if they will post it on their site, or include it in their newsletter.

      Make signs and place them down by the public field. Include your contact information. Make the league sound like a fun way to spend free time and meet new friends. Also be sure to include the projected costs associated.

      Talk to other players who are already on a team. Sometimes softball teams can get quite large. Because of the time commitment involved, some teams over-stack the number of people on their team, thinking people will have conflicts and won't be able to show. Then the team starts winning, everyone shows and nobody gets any playing time. Talk to some players and see if they'd be open to joining a new team you are forming. Just be sure to get it approved by the league.
