How to Make a Shooting Glove

Proper grip is crucial to a good shot. Adding a pair of shooting gloves to your arsenal can be the difference between a target hit and a target missed. Thin leather gloves, like those used for baseball, softball or golf, can be easily modified to fit both hands, regardless of your dominant shooting hand. If you have a pair of gloves laying around or see a pair of full-fingered gloves in a sporting goods store that runs cheaper than shooting-specific gloves, it's time to modify the ones you have to fit the sport you love.

Instructions

Lay your pair of gloves flat on a hard surface with the palms facing down. All the folds and wrinkles need to be out of the gloves, so pull the fingers in one direction while holding the glove at the portion that would cover the heel of your hand.

Cut all the fingers of your gloves, excluding the middle finger on both, to a level below your middle knuckle. On the middle finger of both gloves, cut to just below the first knuckle (closest to the fingernail). It's best to err on the side of caution for all cuts, as small adjustments can be made if more needs to be trimmed. If you cut too much in the beginning, you'll need a new pair of gloves to start over with.

Place the right and left glove on the right and left hand, respectively, and make two fists to check your cut lines. If knuckles are still restricted by leather, trim small bits off until the fit is comfortable and non-confining.
