Gun Sling Mount Installation

Mounting a gun sling is an easy task if you have the right gun. If it's equipped for a sling, mounting is easy. For guns without built-in mounts, aftermarket mounts are readily available. Some can be strapped on; others must be carefully screwed into the stock. Instructions vary for each sling mount; it is important to make sure that the one you buy is designed specifically for your gun.

      Locate the sling mount hole in the stock. If your gun does not have such a hole, you may have to buy an after-market attachment and secure it to your stock. Properly fitted sling mounts simply slide down the barrel or snap onto the stock.

      Slide the latch attached to the bottom of your gun sling through the sling mount hole. Tighten the latch's clasp by screwing it clockwise. Pull gently on your sling to make sure that the latch is securely attached.

      Locate the threaded screw hole on the hand grip. If your gun is not so equipped buy an attachment. Most can be slid down the barrel. If you have the right attachment, it will slide snugly into place about halfway down the barrel.

      Take the screw located at the tip of your gun sling opposite the latch. Place the screw in the screw hole. Screw until tight. The result should be a gun sling that is secured to the gun on both ends. Carefully sling your gun over your shoulder while it is unloaded and the safety is turned on.
