How to Install a Mag Pouch on an M1 Carbine Stock

The M1 Carbine was originally designed to serve as an intermediate firearm for use by second-line troops during World War II. The M1 Carbine fired a .30-caliber round that was approximately twice as powerful as the .45 ACP round used in the Colt 1911, but still three times weaker than the .30-06 caliber round used in the full-sized M1 Garand rifle. The compact size of the M1 Carbine made it ideal for jungle and close-quarters combat, and it was commonly used by paratroopers throughout the war. The M1 Carbine was often equipped with a magazine pouch that was mounted to the right side of the stock and held two spare magazines.

Instructions

    • 1

Clear the weapon. Eject the magazine and pull the charging handle to ensure that the rifle is not loaded.

    • 2

Insert the barrel into the loop of the magazine pouch. The magazine pouch should be positioned so the magazine slots are on the right side of the rifle.

    • 3

Slide the magazine pouch down the length of the rifle until it is firmly seated on the right side of the buttstock.
