How to Remove an EOTech Hood

Owned by large defense contractor L-3, EOTech is a manufacturer of electro-optics products using laser and holographic technology. The EOTech aiming platform, designed and manufactured by EOTech, consists of achromatic holographic optics that rail-mount on all Picatinny-railed weapons. The EOTech is the official holographic sight of the U.S. military.

  • Hex bit (size depends on model)
  • 7/64-inch Allen wrench

      Remove the EOTech sight from its position on the weapon by loosening the hex nut retainer screw and the dovetail clamp with the Allen wrench. Loosen the screws just enough to remove the sight. Completely backing out the screw could damage the locking hardware.

      Slide the EOTech sight off the rail.

      Locate the set of smaller hex screws on either side of the EOTech sight. Using the hex screw, unscrew and lift the hood off the mount.
