How to Use a Glock 22
Things You'll Need
- Ammo clip and loader .40 caliber bullets
Instructions
-
Loading the Glock 22
-
1
Slide the ammo clip loader over the clip's end. One side of the loader is square, the other is slightly rounded. Simply match up the square side of the ammo clip loader with the square side of the ammo clip.
-
2
Press down on the loader so that it pushes down the ammo clip's internal spring. Holding it down, pick up a .40 caliber bullet and slide it into the clip, case first. Once the bullet hits the part of the ammo clip loader that is pushing down the clip's spring, release the pressure on the ammo clip loader and raise it up so you can use your fingers to push the bullet the rest of the way in.
-
3
Press down on the loader again to load the next bullet. You will be pressing down on the first bullet you loaded instead of the floor plate of the magazine. Repeat the loading process until you have a full ammo clip.
-
4
Pick up the Glock 22 with one hand and hold the full ammo clip with the other. Slide the ammo clip into the bottom of the Glock's handle. The bullets must be facing the same way as the barrel for the clip to fit. Push the clip up into the gun's handle until you hear a click and it cannot be pushed up any farther.
Using the Glock 22
-
5
Hold the handle of the Glock with your right hand and point the barrel in a safe direction. Place the thumb of your left hand on one side of the slide and your index and middle fingers on the other.
-
6
Pull back on the Glock's slide with your left hand while holding the Glock's handle firmly. You will be able to pull the slide back about 1-1/2 inches.
-
7
Release the slide with your left hand. The slide will snap forward and automatically load a .40 caliber bullet. The gun is now ready to fire so be sure to aim in a safe direction.
-
8
Point the Glock 22 at a target. If using the gun sights, center the front sight post in the middle of the rear sight's rectangle. The front sight should be centered on the target.
-
9
Take a breath and let out half of it. You will notice that the gun's sights follow a predictable, repeating path as they float back and forth across the target. This is called the rhythm of the sight picture. Once you have the rhythm of the sight picture, slowly squeeze the trigger. Don't jerk it, squeeze it. Time the squeeze so that the pistol fires right as the sight target floats across where you want the bullet to hit.
