The Wildcats men's swimming and diving team won the 2008 National Championship and is part of a much larger commitment on the part of the University of Arizona to athletics, a commitment that has earned them a number of national and Pac-10 championships in several sports. The swimming team, both for men and women, includes several nationally ranked swimmers, has an active recruitment operation and achieved global recognition by sending 15 students and alumni to compete in swimming and diving events in the 2008 Olympic Games.

The University of Texas stands out not only for the incredible results of many of its swimmers, but for its superlative coaching staff and commitment to team organization. The Longhorn athletics department sees its athletes as a focal point of school pride and encourages them not only to compete at the highest levels athletically, but to actively participate in other campus academic and social events. The University of Texas' Men's Swimming and Diving Team is also the current NCAA champion.
