Top Swimming Colleges

A number of colleges have exceptional swimming programs, and the ranking is highly competitive and changes often. But a select few universities are consistently top-ranked and have conspicuously well-funded and organized programs to sustain their teams.

  1. University of Arizona Wildcats

    • The Wildcats men's swimming and diving team won the 2008 National Championship and is part of a much larger commitment on the part of the University of Arizona to athletics, a commitment that has earned them a number of national and Pac-10 championships in several sports. The swimming team, both for men and women, includes several nationally ranked swimmers, has an active recruitment operation and achieved global recognition by sending 15 students and alumni to compete in swimming and diving events in the 2008 Olympic Games.

    University of Texas Longhorns

    • The University of Texas stands out not only for the incredible results of many of its swimmers, but for its superlative coaching staff and commitment to team organization. The Longhorn athletics department sees its athletes as a focal point of school pride and encourages them not only to compete at the highest levels athletically, but to actively participate in other campus academic and social events. The University of Texas' Men's Swimming and Diving Team is also the current NCAA champion.

    Stanford Cardinals

    • In addition to its excellent academic reputation, Stanford boasts a number of high-performing teams, including its men's and women's swimming and diving teams. Stanford has won the Director's Cup, recognizing the most successful Division I NCAA athletic program, for 15 consecutive years, and its swimming teams are notable not only for their excellent performance and state-of-the-art facilities, but also for the academic achievements of team members.
