Ways to Display Track Ribbons

If you compete in track-and-field athletics, odds are good that you have a bag, box or drawer full of award ribbons. It can be a challenge to exhibit your ribbons in a way that will showcase your accomplishments without taking over the house. Fortunately there are several display techniques that will not only keep your ribbons organized and accessible, they will add to the beauty and décor of your home, dorm room or "bragging wall."
  1. Make a Scrapbook

    • Scrapbooking has become a very popular hobby, so it should be a simple matter to locate a "themed" book to house your ribbons, certificates and pictures. You can make a page for each award that holds the ribbon, a candid photo of the event and a newspaper clipping about the meet, or make a ribbons-only scrapbook that holds all your ribbons in chronological order. You can even buy special scrapbook pages that have pockets made specifically to hold award ribbons.

    T-Shirt Board

    • If you have a t-shirt or jersey with your team name, mascot or number on it, make a t-shirt bulletin board to display your ribbons. Just slip a cork board inside the shirt, center the front of the shirt so that the design is where you want it on the bulletin board, stretch the fabric taut and staple it to the back of the board. Trim off the excess fabric on the back and hang the bulletin board on the wall---you can affix your ribbons to it with thumbtacks and update the display every season.

    Wall Quilt

    • If you are handy with crafts, you can turn your ribbons into a beautiful wall hanging. Use fusible interfacing to affix the ribbons to a piece of fabric, add a border and hang it on the wall. You can line the ribbons up, arrange them in a random order or recreate a classic quilting design such as Log Cabin or Rail Fence. If some of your ribbons have rosettes, place them where they will accentuate the design.

    Toss 'Em

    • No, not in the trash; keep your ribbons on casual display by tossing them into an enormous glass bowl, vase or display cube. You can also re-purpose fish bowls or small tanks for this idea. If you have a display table (such as a coffee table with a hinged glass lid), layer your ribbons under the glass for a colorful show.
