How to Double Block in Volleyball
Instructions

1
Read the set. When the ball is set, look to see if it is going to be a quick middle hit. The ball may be going outside. If it is a high set going outside, you will have time to react with a double block.
-
2
Gain position. You should be in a somewhat crouched position with your hands up at the net (ready to pounce at a moment's notice). With your left foot, take a giant step to the left. Line yourself up with the outside blocker, and step in with your right foot to bring yourself back to the same crouched position.
-
3
Square up. You and the outside blocker should now be shoulder-to-shoulder waiting for your opponent to spike the volleyball.
-
4
Jump and reach. When the ball is spiked, wait a split second before leaving the ground. Jump straight up with your outside blocker, and extend your hands in the direction that the ball has been hit.
-
5
Land and cover. If the ball has been tipped or partially blocked by yourself or your teammate, get ready to react quickly to pass the ball back up. Keep the play alive!
