How to Load an AB Biller Speargun

AB Biller spear guns are used by spear fishermen all over the world. The wooden barrel design provides accuracy and reliability while absorbing 80 percent of the noise from firing. AB Biller spear guns use rubber sling bands in the firing mechanism, and require a specific technique for loading due to the awkward length of the spear gun and the tension of the rubber sling bands. Experts say spear gun loading involves 80 percent technique and 20 percent strength.

Instructions

    • 1

Get into the water geared up with a wetsuit and your spear gun. Grab the handle of the gun with your right hand and reach for the left rubber sling band on the end of the spear gun with your left hand. Lefties reverse all directions referring to right and left hand.

    • 2

Pull the left rubber sling with your left hand while pushing the handle with your right hand. This requires simultaneous pulling and pushing power with both arms.

    • 3

Wedge the handle of the spear gun against your chest. Continue pulling the left rubber sling band down toward the handle with your left hand, but now use your chest to push on the spear gun.

    • 4

Reach with your right hand for the right rubber sling band and pull it down along with the left sling band. Bring both rubber sling bands toward the loading notch of the firing mechanism on top of the spear gun.

    • 5

Insert the cable loop from each rubber sling band into the loading notch until the notch clicks. The sling bands are now in firing position. Load a spear shaft into the notch.
