Bow-Mount Motors
-
Minn Kota bow-mount motors are offered in a wide range of designs, according to E Outdoor Sports. Bow-mount options operate via wide track, tilt-twist tiller and micro-touch cable controls. These motors provide a maximum thrust range of 37 and 45 amps and between 12 to 36 volts of energy. Three- and five-speed controls, available on most bow-mount models, can operate the boat in both forward and reverse.
Transom Motors
-
Shaft lengths on all standard Minn Kota transom motor boats range between 30 to 42 inches. Any transom boat whose edge rises more than 22 inches above the water surface requires a custom design. Maximum power with transom motor draw measures between 37 to 45 amps and 12 to 36 volts. Twist-tiller controls are the only option with transom motors, while universal sonar options are not available at all.
Engine-Mounted Motors
-
Engine-mount motor options are measured differently from bow-mounted and transom counterparts, according to E Outdoor Sports. A minimum of 13 inches must be measured from the cavitation plate to the water surface to safely operate this motor. Console controls power a variable-speed motor, and engine-mounted motors feature a power-prop weedless wedge. To safely use an engine-mounted option the maximum boat length is 20 feet.
