How to Win More Wrestling Matches
Instructions

1
Build your overall body strength. Do resistance training regularly that focuses on strengthening your arms, legs and core. Do arm curls with dumbbells and bench pressing with weights to build arm muscles. Do squats and leg presses to build leg muscles. Sit-ups will build your core muscles.
-
2
Learn and perfect as many wrestling moves as you can. The more moves you know, the more you have to work with to help you win matches. Learn throws, finishing moves, takedowns, reverses, defenses and attack moves. Watch videos, read books and practice what you've learned.
-
3
Pay attention at practice at all times, especially when your coach is talking about your opponent and teaching new moves.
-
4
Create new moves. Use your knowledge of the moves and techniques you already know to develop new ones that your opponent is not accustomed to.
-
5
Study your opponent. Watch him in other matches. Study his wrestling style and what moves he most often makes. See if he has a signature move that he consistently uses to win.
-
6
Develop counter moves against your future opponent after you have seen his wrestling style and the moves he most often uses. Specifically, have a move ready to use against his signature pinning move.
-
7
Score first as early and as often as you can. This puts your opponent in a position where he has to play catch-up. It also gives you a physical and mental edge of not having to come from behind.
