How to Clean Wrestling Mats With Clorox
It is no secret that wrestling mats must be cleaned. Not only are sweat and other bodily excretions spread onto the mat, communicable diseases can be spread amongst wrestlers through the mats. According to Memorial Health Alliance, skin diseases, ring worm, viral infections, athlete's foot, herpes simplex and jock itch are some of the complications associated with unclean wrestling mats. Cleaning wrestling mats with a solution of Clorox bleach and water will significantly help stop the spread of these diseases and conditions.
Things You'll Need
- Bucket
- 1 gallon warm water
- 1/4 cup Clorox bleach
- Rags

Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water. Add ¼ cup Clorox bleach.

Dip a rag into the Clorox solution and wring it out well. Wipe down the entire wrestling mat with the rag. Rinse and wring out the rag frequently while cleaning.

Let the front side of the mat dry completely. Flip it over and clean the other side in the same manner.
