How to Customize Professional Wrestling Boots

Pro wrestling is as much about color and spectacle as it is about in-ring skill, so wrestlers are often looking for ways make themselves, or rather their characters, stand out and get noticed. While pros in the big leagues like WWE, TNA and ECW have an entire wardrobe crew that can make any alterations they wish, wrestlers who work the independent circuit are left to their own devices when adding a bit flair and custom work to their boots.

  • Glue gun with sticks
  • Damp cloth
  • Rhinestones, sequins or beads (if desired)
  • Fabric paint
  • New laces (longest length possible)
  • Stencils (optional)
  • Airbrush kit (optional)

      Think about elements of your wrestling character and sketch a few boot ideas that match it. Decide what works best according to your resources and budget. You can a variety of items to customize your boots to fit your wrestling persona.

      Replace your current laces with a matching color if your character is reserved, or use a contrasting color if you're wild and extreme. Heat the glue gun. Work over a damp cloth to prevent damage to the work surface. Add small dobs of glue to the boot surface and attach any of the beads, rhinestones or sequins that you wish.

      Use the fabric paint to draw design elements of your character, or use the stencils to add your name or the name of your finishing move to the sides of each boot. Allow it to dry completely. If desired, use the airbrush to add any number of design elements to the boot, which can either be subtle or flamboyant.
