How to Do a Standing Tuck in Cheerleading
Instructions
-
-
1
Stand straight with your arms at your sides and your face looking forward.
-
2
Pick a place on the wall to stare at. This is called spotting. It helps to keep your head straight when doing the tuck. Look at that spot through the jump until you can no longer see it.
-
3
Clap your hands on the 1-2 beat. Keeping the beat when doing this jump helps everything fit together.
-
4
Swing your arms back and down on the 3-4 beat. Bend your knees while keeping your back and head straight. Raise your hands above your head and jump into the air.
-
5
Tuck your knees hard into your chest at the highest point of the jump on the 5-6 beat. Keep you calves and feet perpendicular, like you are sitting in a chair.
-
6
Hold your legs to your chest for the turn backward. Release your legs before you land on the 7-8 beat.
-
7
Practice the standing tuck on mats. Some people benefit from practicing this jump on a trampoline. This is not recommended for all jumps. The trampoline can help you to keep you head straight while jumping.
