Halloween Ideas for Athletic Teams
-
Team Costumes
-
As a bonding experience the team can dress up like their favorite professional team. Each player can pick a professional athlete on that team to resemble so that no one is wearing the same number jersey. They can also dress like the team mascot, which could be a welcome change from the traditional jersey-wearing show of team spirit.
Parties
-
Your athletic team can throw their own Halloween party. It can be just for team members and their families or you can open it up to the public. Organize a murder mystery party in which clues are given to a murder scenario and the person who guesses the killer can win a big prize. You can keep it informal and just ask people to wear their costumes, hire a DJ and serve some refreshments.
Contests
-
A contest is also an activity that can be a team member's-only event or open to the school for a school-related athletic program to inspire school spirit, or to the community in which the athletic team calls home. Contests can include pumpkin carving contest, best Halloween costume contest, costume with the most school spirit and worst costume.
Sponsorship Fundraiser
-
Turn Halloween into a fundraiser for your athletics program. Greenville, South Carolina has an annual outdoor event for Halloween. Local and statewide athletic programs use the even to create program awareness and generate funds for the sports teams. Host a charity auction of haunted relics. Put on a ghoulish play. Go door to door with raffle tickets instead of asking for candy. You can also create a haunted house attraction and charge for entrance.
