Fundraising Ideas for Teams

Team Raffle
-
Holding a cash raffle at home games for your favorite team is a quick and simple way to earn much-needed cash. You will need to check your local laws to assure that cash raffles are permitted.
A 50/50 raffle, or event where one-half of the collected money goes to the winner of the drawing, is a popular raffle. Sell numbered raffle tickets at the entrance gate and have trusted volunteers sell during the first half of the game in the stands or bleachers. Have your drawing at halftime. You can also hold longer-term raffles for donated items. Local or community retail outlets are often willing to show team spirit by donating items for raffles to benefit the team. A merchant may also trade a few items for advertising at the team's events. A poster or a sign for the store or the mention of the merchant at opening announcements may be all that's needed.
Smaller donated items such as T-shirts or hats can be raffled off at a game or given a few days for ticket sales. Larger items, such as televisions, may call for a longer-term raffle, up to a month in length.
Team Party
-
Holding a party to raise money for your team may require a bit a footwork and many phone calls, but can almost guarantee a financial return. If the fundraising is for a school, holding the party in the gym or even in the cafeteria will add to the team spirit. For a community league, consider holding it at a public park or playing grounds to give it a community feel. Avoid holding this event at a private home as it will feel too exclusive to the public in general.
Hire a DJ and ask for a few donated decorations. Have a few sports-related games set up, such as knocking bottles down with a baseball or throwing a football through a hole, and prepare a place for people to dance.
Earn your money through ticket and door sales and by charging low prices for punch and snacks. Place a bowl by the DJ for added donations. Encourage everyone to support their team by throwing in loose change.
Walk for the Cause
-
Have each of your team members ask community members to donate a specific amount of money for each mile a team member walks to support the team. Set a date and time for your walk. Assist your team in collecting earned money.
