1
Purchase an all-white mini-helmet. Look at your favorite team's colors and decide how you want to paint your helmet. Sketch out the way you intend to design your helmet so you can follow the design from start to finish.
-
2
Remove all of the hardware from the helmet, which includes the chin strap, facemask and the metal snap buttons on the sides below each earhole that connect the chin strap. Stuff a piece of newspaper on the inside of the helmet to protect the interior from excess paint. If you intend to put stripes down the center of the helmet from front to back, tape off two long strips.
-
3
Spray-paint or paint by hand with the colors you have chosen. Once the paint has dried, you can use a small, thin brush to add the stripes or to do minor touch-ups.
-
4
Apply the peel-off numbers or decal logos for your team. The team logo should go on either side of the helmet above the ear holes. Place the numbers on the rear of the helmet. If you added the stripes, the numbers usually go on the outside of both stripes, in a pattern that goes number-stripes-number.
-
5
Attach the hardware back to the helmet and tighten the screws. Your mini-helmet is now ready for display.
