Cheerleader Pep Rally Game Ideas
-
Crowd Chants
-
One way to get the crowds involved in a pep rally is to organize a sing-along game. Pick the song that you want the crowd to sing with you, preferable one that is familiar to an audience, such as "We Will Rock You" and "We are the Champions, " by Queen, "Eye of the Tiger," by Survivor or "Start Me Up" by the Rolling Stones. You can also get the crowd to sing the school's fight school. Divide the crowd into sections. Assign different verses of the songs to each section. Write the verses of the songs on posters and hold up the posters in front of each section when it's time for each section to sing.
Cheerleader Tryouts
-
Pick people in the crowd---at least three---to try out to become a cheerleaders for a day, or at least during the pep rally. Give them a set of pom-poms and a loud speaker, so they can blend in with the other cheerleaders on the squad. Have the new cheerleader lead the squad in a round of cheers. Make it interesting and include the new cheerleader in dance moves and stints.
Dance Off
-
Pep rallies are for everyone at the school, therefore the events should not only involve students. You can pick people out the crowd, including students, coaches, teachers and administrators, to go head-to-head against a cheerleader in a dance off. Students often enjoy seeing teachers, coaches and administrators break from their often professional attitudes and have fun. Get the crowd involved by having them pick the dances for the competition. Have the dance contestants exhibit a variety of dances, including hip-hop, jazz and freestyle. If the school band attends the pep rally, they can provide the music. Music can also be played over the school's speaker system.
School Trivia
-
Test the students' knowledge during a trivia game. Pick questions that are related to your school and your school's history. You can ask those in the crowd what year the school first opened, the size of the first graduating class, or the name of the school's first principal. If applicable, you can ask people to name one famous person who attended or graduated from the school. Give away prizes to those who answer the questions correctly, such as snack foods and cans of soda, school T-shirts and other gifts.
