1
Encourage a team spirit. To successfully run a minor league baseball team, you must first have a group of dedicated players who are preferably interested in one thing: playing baseball.
-
2
Establish a marketing and public relations plan. Running a minor league team is much like running a business. Get involved in community charities and organizations and look for ways to help out local businesses with the goal of getting sponsors.
-
3
Establish a budget. Unlike the major leagues, minor leagues usually do not have a ton of money coming in. To be successful as a minor league team, you should have a close eye on its finances. It is a good idea to hire a professional bookkeeper to make sure everything is done appropriately.

4
Choose or hire a coach and other team managers. For your team to succeed, you will need an experienced coach. Also, to keep the team moving, choose some of your players or other individuals who are committed to the team's success to manage various aspects of the team such as keeping scores and statistics, scheduling games, contacting and notifying players, taking pictures and just encouraging team spirit.
-
5
Build a relationship with your affiliated major league team. Most minor league teams are affiliated with a major league team. The team that your team is associated with will be a valuable resource for you to work with in getting more publicity for your team. The minor leagues are also a resource for the major league teams since they go to the minors to find and recruit players.
