How to Fix a Broken Binding Clip on a Snowboard

Learning how to maintain your snowboard equipment should be a priority. In-store service and maintenance fees can be expensive. An alternative is fixing your own snowboard equipment, but you have to learn how to maintain your equipment properly. The bindings are a system of straps that clip the snow boots to the snowboard. Over time, the securing straps can break, causing the entire binding to malfunction. To fix a broken binding clip on a snowboard, remove the binding and replace it with a new one.

Instructions

Put the snowboard onto a work table. Arrange the snowboard so that the bindings are facing upward. Make an outline of both bindings using adhesive tape or pen. This will help you align the new bindings to the board in the same position as the old ones.

    • 2

Remove the boot pad from the broken binding to reveal the mounting screws. Loosen and remove the mounting screws from the broken binding. Using a screwdriver, rotate the screws counterclockwise. Also remove the mounting screws from the other binding. Place the mounting screws in a bowl to avoid losing them.

Remove the old bindings from the snowboard. Once the mounting screws are removed, the bindings will simply fall out of place. Discard the old bindings.

    • 4

Align the new bindings with the outlines on the snowboard made from the old bindings. Ensure the bindings are perfectly aligned with the mounting screw holes that are drilled into the snowboard. So long as you made an outline of the old bindings before removing the mounting screws, your new bindings should be in same position as the old ones.

Secure the new bindings to the snowboard using the screws previously removed and a screwdriver. Rotate the screws clockwise until they are flush with the bindings. Mount the screws as tightly as possible to prevent them from loosening while you are snowboarding. Replace the boot pads inside the bindings.
