How to Fix Your Snowboard if the Bindings Stripped

One type of snowboard binding is constructed of straps. The straps wrap around the boot of the rider and slide through a buckle. The buckle secures the strap and boot in place. A spring holds the buckle bite in place and the back of the strap has an entire series of notches so the rider can adjust the binding to the desired fit. However, after extended use, the notches may become worn and stripped. When this happens, the notches are unable to hold the buckle in place and the strap must be replaced.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the hex-head or Allen wrench bolts securing the binding strap to the binding frame. Each screw is threaded into a flat-based nut located on the inside of the frame. Each nut has a stem that protrudes through the wall of the binding to the outside.

    • 2

Grasp the flat base of the nuts with a pair of pliers, one at a time. Unthread the bolts from the nuts with the appropriate wrench while holding the bases of the nuts securely. Pull the stripped strap off the binding frame. Remove the bolts from the strap.

Slide the bolts through the holes in the new strap. Grasp the base of the nuts as you thread the bolts into the nuts' stems. Without stripping the heads of the bolts, torque them tightly to prevent them from unthreading.
