How to Apply a Foot Stomp on a Snowboard

A stomp pad is an adhesive traction pad that you put on your snowboard to provide grip while skating with your rear foot out. Since snowboard top sheets tend to be slippery, you'll want a little extra grip to keep you stable. Stomp pads come in all different shapes, sizes and colors, so pick one you like and put it on; it's one of the easiest parts of setting up a new board.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine what's a comfortable stance when cruising with your rear foot out. You'll want to mount the stomp pad between the bindings, either in the middle or toward the rear binding, depending upon what's comfortable for you. If in doubt, do a quick test on the snow or just strap your front foot in and get a feel for what's natural.

Wipe the area where you'll be mounting the binding with a paper towel or rag wet with some soapy water. Clean off any dirt and grime to prevent it from getting under your stomp pad. Rinse and dry the area off before applying the stomp pad.

Remove the backing off the stomp pad to reveal the adhesive bottom.

Press the stomp pad firmly down for a few seconds until it's stuck to your board.
