How to Change Jetting on Firecat

Snowmobiling gives you an excuse to get out of your house in the winter and allows you to explore the wilderness with your friends. The other half of the fun is fixing the broken sleds and tuning them for more power. One way to increase the performance of your Arctic Cat Firecat is to change the carburetor jetting. This adjusts the amount of fuel delivered to the engine and can increase its power. A larger jet allows more fuel (richer) and a small jet allows less fuel (leaner).

Instructions

    • 1

Park the snowmobile on a flat surface, preferably in a warm garage. Undo the latches that secure the front hood and open it up.

    • 2

Loosen the Torx screw on the front of the air box by turning it counterclockwise. Pull the air box forward, then up and out.

    • 3

Lay a rag on top of the engine. This is to place the carburetor on while working.

    • 4

Loosen the clamps that secure the carburetor to the engine by turning them counterclockwise.

    • 5

Pull the carburetors back until they come off the boot, and lay them on top of the motor.

    • 6

Remove the bolt on the bottom of the carburetor with a wrench. This exposes the jet.

    • 7

Remove the jet with a socket and ratchet by turning it counterclockwise. Install the new jet by reversing the process used to remove the old one.

    • 8

Reinstall the carburetor and air box, reversing the process used to remove them.
