How to Do Grabs on a Skateboard

Grab tricks are primarily done during vertical skateboarding, which consists of a skater riding his or her board up a ramp, half pipe, or bowl vertically and performing tricks while airborne. One of the most basic vertical skating tricks is to perform some grabs while in the air. There are many variations of these grabs, but you should first master the basics. Wear proper safety gear to prevent injury while skating.

Instructions

  1. Nose Grab

    • 1

Put your front foot on the board slightly behind the screws and begin pushing with your back foot. Push hard and build momentum and speed as you travel toward the ramp.

    • 2

Do an ollie at the top of the ramp. This will launch you higher in the air, giving you more time to complete the trick.

    • 3

Bend your front leg at the knee. Take either one of your hands and grab the nose or front end of the skateboard. Remove your hand, land back on the ramp and roll back down.
