How Do You Do a Shuvit When Skateboarding?

One of the first tricks that most skaterboarders master is the shuvit. The shuvit is a basic trick that can be done without having to do an "ollie" first. The shuvit involves the skater jumping into the air, without the board coming up in the air, and spinning the board at least 180 degrees. You will need to wear a helmet and safety pads when attempting to learn this trick.

Instructions

    • 1

Strap on your helmet and put on your shoulder, wrist, and knee pads. When learning a new skateboarding trick you are sure to fall a few times, so be sure to protect yourself from serious injury.

    • 2

Place your front foot on the board just behind the front set of screws with your foot at a slight angle. Your toes should be hanging off the edge of the board slightly. Bend your knee, place your weight on the front foot and lean forward slightly to balance yourself. Push off with your back foot to get rolling, then place your back foot on the tail of the skateboard.

    • 3

Place your back foot firmly on the tail and make a twisting motion with your foot. You can make this motion either direction.

    • 4

Lift your front foot up off the board in a small jumping motion as you twist with your back foot. This will send the board spinning 180 degrees.

    • 5

Bring both feet back down on the board after the spin is complete. Land with both feet on the front and back set of screws. Roll away.
