How to Place Your Foot for a Shuvit
The skateboard started out as a flat piece of wood with four wheels attached, often used primarily to roll down hills. The design of skateboards evolved into a more curved, contoured shape to enable for maximum control over where the board rolls. The concave shape of the skateboard also makes it easier to control mid-air and ground tricks, such as the shuvit, or shove-it. The shuvit gets its name from the shoving movement needed from the feet in order execute the trick. Foot placement is almost as important as foot movement when it comes to skateboard tricks.

1
Place the back foot across the curved tail of the board. Keep the foot centered on the tail.

2
Place the front foot just behind the truck bolts on the front of the board. Point the toes on the front foot very slightly to the lip of the board.
-
3
Push the board back with the back foot and push it forward with the front foot simultaneously. The opposite kicks will cause the board to pivot.
-
4
Jump up as you kick the board with both feet. The feet must come off the board immediately to allow it to rotate.
