How to Do an Ollie With Your Nose

Using the nose of your skateboard to pop it into the air is known as a "nollie." This trick is more difficult than a standard ollie off the tail of the board. Since your momentum is moving forward at the same time you slap the nose of the board against the ground, you must use your rear foot to pull the board along with you instead of simply pushing it through the air with your front foot. If you are trying to ollie over an obstacle, make sure to jump high and bend your knees as much as possible so the tail of the skateboard clears the object.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your front foot on the skateboard in your normal riding position. Push with your back foot to start rolling forward.

    • 2

Bring your back foot onto the center of the board and slide your front foot toward the nose.

    • 3

Press your front foot down as hard as possible when you are ready to ollie. Drag your back foot toward the tail to bring the board up as you push yourself into the air off your front foot.

Bring your knees in toward your body to gain maximum height. Wait for the board to level out before straightening your legs to land the trick. Land with your momentum going forward and your back foot near the middle of the board. Keep your back foot off the tail or you may tip backward and fall.
