How to Do a Casper Flip

The casper flip is a challenging freestyle skateboarding trick that should only be attempted by competent skateboarders. To perform a casper flip, skateboarders "pop" the board to lift it into the air, flip it over to reveal the underside of the board, before catching it and spinning it around for a full 180 degrees, only to land back on it face up. Riders should be confident at performing kickflips before attempting a casper flip.

Instructions

    • 1

Position the ball of your tail foot over the tail pop -- the raised lip at the rear of the board. Position your front foot with your toes covering the front two bolts above the front trucks. Angle your front foot slightly so your toes are pointing toward the opposite corner of the board.

    • 2

Push down hard with your tail foot and jump into the air to allow the board to lift from the ground.

    • 3

Flick your front foot toward the bottom edge of the board to initiate the spin. Do not kick as hard as you would when performing a regular kickflip.

    • 4

As the board rotates upside down, catch the grip-side of the board with your front foot. Quickly rotate the board back to an upright position, whilst spinning it out in front of you a full 180 degrees. As you advance, you can attempt to spin the board 360 degrees.

Replace your feet back on the board once it has spun 180 degrees and push down to land. Bend your knees to reduce the impact and ride away effortlessly.
