How to Sigma Flip

A skateboarder has numerous trick options. One trick is called the sigma flip, which is an evolved version of a kick flip, in which the skateboarder switches feet and turns the board 180 degrees from the takeoff point. The trick requires a high level of skill, but the method is fairly simple.

Position yourself as if ready for a varial kickflip, with your back foot set sideways at kickstand, your toes hanging off the side, and your front foot at the top of the board facing vertically at a 45 degree angle. With your feet, flip the skateboard up as if doing a varial kickflip, popping the board 180 degrees around.

Catch the board with your feet as it is undergoing its rotation. However, for a sigma flip, you must catch it with the trucks --- the underside of the board --- facing upward. You must catch the board, with your foot at its nose. Push the board around a rotation as your front foot touches the grip tape.

Jerk your feet towards your chest so that they don't hit the board and stop its rotation. As the wheels of the board hit the ground, land your feet and roll with the board.
