How to Do Frontside Flips

Skateboarding is an exhilarating action sport that involves riding a skateboard and perfecting tricks with flips, twists and turns up in the air. The frontside flip is one of the more difficult tricks to perform and requires a lot of practice and repetition to master. To be able to do this trick, you must already be comfortable with doing the techniques of the frontside 180 and kickflip tricks.

Roll the skateboard slowly and place your feet on the board in a kickflip setup position. Position the back foot over at the very heel edge of the board tail; this aids in flipping or rotating the board.

Bend the knees to lower your body down then rise up and pop. Put your body weight on the heel edge to propel the board to flip. As you do this, rotate your shoulder and turn your body to face the other direction, along with the board. Kick the front foot out while you are turning so it goes out and around. Open the legs to force the flip and turn 180 degrees around.

Bend your knees to prepare for landing and be cautious of the board flying outward from underneath as you practice this trick. Keep balancing your weight over the front foot to land most of the impact over the nose of the board.
