How to Hold a Skateboard

Skateboards are used for hardcore tricks and stunts, as a transportation means and for general recreation. When riding around cities or parks, you may encounter areas where skateboarding is not allowed; this requires you get off the board and carry it for a spell. When holding the board, there is no hard set rule. Carry it in a fashion that allows hand comfort and ease of dropping and riding when the time comes.

Instructions

    • 1

Flip the deck up and into your hands when bringing the board to a full stop. Step on the back tail and "flip" the board up and perpendicular to the ground. Reach down and grab the front wheel trucks and lift.

    • 2

Grip the board at the front wheel trucks--trucks are the axles and retaining mounts for the wheels. Hold the front wheel trucks like a carrying handle to hold the skateboard perpendicular to the ground. Benefits to this hold include dropping the board in a ready-to-ride position.

    • 3

Grip the board in the center of the deck and hold it next to your hip like a textbook. If in a tight crowd, keep the wheels facing in toward your body.
