How to Catch & Land a Shuvit

A shuvit (also known as a shove-it) is a skateboard trick where the skateboarder makes the board spin 180 degrees while in motion. There are several variations of the trick, including the pop shuvit, late spin and big spin. Because the skateboarder spends little time airborne, the shuvit is one of the first tricks that novice skateboarders learn. The shuvit can be mastered with practice.

Practice over smooth ground. Look for pavement that is smooth with cracks or breaks. The trick requires the skateboarder to be going straight at a moderate speed, so smooth pavement is crucial.

Place your feet properly. Your front foot should be just behind the front wheels (also known as trucks), and your back foot should the flat against the tailpiece of the skateboard.

    • 3

Land your front foot on the trucks. As the board spins below you, plant your front foot right above the wheels, then land your back foot on the tail piece while going forward,
