How to Troubleshoot Catching & Landing a Shuvit

As any avid skateboarder will soon realize, learning tricks requires persistence. Foot placement remains a key factor in troubleshooting tricks. Proper foot placement will allow you to maintain control of the board as it floats through the air. The shuvit, also known as the pop shovit, it an intermediate trick that involves rotating the board 180 degrees in the air. The skateboarding professionals at The Berrics recommend practicing the shuvit on flat ground to get comfortable with the movements and landing technique.

Instructions

    • 1

Adjust your foot position if you've been having trouble landing the shuvit. Place your lead foot towards the middle of the skateboard. Slide your foot backwards to allow a few inches of your heel to hang off the edge of the board.

    • 2

Align your opposing foot on the back end of the board. Slide your foot forward until your toes rest on the outer edge of the tail. Bend your knees while keeping the skateboard in a stationary position.

    • 3

Push down with your back foot to smack the tail against the pavement. Jump vertically while kicking your lead foot forward. Thrust your back foot in the opposing direction to rotate the skateboard.

Lift your knees as the skateboard begins the 180-degree rotation of the shuvit. Lower your front foot to catch the board as it completes the shuvit. Align your back foot over the four bolts located towards the back end of the board.
