How to Make Flip Trick Jumps
One of the more common skateboard tricks is known as a flip trick. A flip trick is the act of spinning the board in the air, using your heel or toe. Heel flips are executed by performing an ollie, then kicking the edge of the board with your heel to spin and roll the board. An ollie is the act of popping the board off the ground and jumping in the air while maintaining contact with the board all the way through to landing. Kick flips use your toe to spin and roll the board in the opposite direction.

1
Achieve adequate speed to perform the flip trick. Use your foot to push off the ground, while keeping the other foot on the board to maintain balance.
-
2
Position your feet on the board so your back foot is on the tail of your skateboard. For a heel flip, place your front foot just behind the front trucks with your toes just of the side of your board. For a kick flip, position your front foot on the inside of your board and let you heel lay off the edge of the board.

3
Keep your shoulders and hips square and parallel to your skateboard. Squat down with your knees bent and press your back foot down on the tail to kick it off the ground. Drag your front foot toward the front of the board to perform an ollie.

4
Kick your front heel down to spin and roll your skateboard away from you to execute a heel flip. Kick your toes down to perform a kick flip spinning the board towards you. Allow the board to roll and rotate one time before returning your feet to the board. Double flip tricks refer to the board rotating twice while performing the trick.

5
Catch the board with your feet to stop the board from spinning. Land on the boards with both feet at the same time, trying to position your feet as close to the bolts of the trucks as possible. This will give you stability as you land.
-
6
Land the flip trick by returning the board to the ground. Attempt to bring both ends of the board to the ground so they land at the same time and ride it out.
