How to Disassemble a Crossbow Advantage

The Weider Crossbow Advantage is a home weight-training gym which uses flexion bars to provide resistance, rather than the weight plates of traditional home gyms. It is a fairly complex set of machinery and the prospect of taking it all apart is somewhat daunting. However, by retracing the assembly steps, the machine can be disassembled with ease.

Slide the foam pads off the leg station bar and pull the bar out of the leg lever. Remove the rods holding the back of the seat to the central upright and remove the seat back.

Remove the bolts holding the pulley brackets together using a crescent wrench. Detach the cables from the pulleys and unbolt the pulleys from the frame. Remove the pulleys. Detach the cables from the wire harness by twisting the collar in opposite directions and pulling. If the collar does not release under moderate pressure, reverse the direction of rotation.

Remove the screws from the bottom of the seat with a flathead screwdriver. Lift the seat away from the frame. Disconnect the wire harness from its socket at the back of the center upright by twisting the collar and pulling it straight up and out. If the collar sticks, rock it gently back and forth while pulling. Do not attempt to pry the collar loose, as the thin metal of the collar is easily bent.
