Airdyne Directions

Schwinn's Airdyne EVO is an exercise bicycle that utilizes the force of air resistance to deliver a smooth, impact-free cardio and strength workout. The harder and faster you pedal, the greater the air resistance produced by the vane-like blades of the chain-driven wheel, so you control the intensity of the workout. The chief benefits of regular Airdyne use are increased energy level, increased cardiovascular and aerobic fitness, strengthened upper and lower body muscles and decreased body fat. EVO comes standard with an onboard computer to monitor your performance.

Instructions

  1. Seat Adjustment

    • 1

Mount the Airdyne seat and sit in a comfortable posture for riding.

    • 2

Rotate one pedal to the fully down position. The leg on that pedal should be slightly bent at the knee. Dismount the bike.

    • 3

Unscrew the seat height adjustment knob on the seat tube and withdraw the locking pin. Move the seat up or down to adjacent adjustment holes to raise or lower its height as needed. Push the locking pin in and tighten the adjustment knob.

    Lower Body Workout

    • 4

Assume a comfortable pedaling position on the bicycle.

    • 5

Pedal with your arms relaxed and hanging at your side or rest your hands loosely on the hand grips as they move back and forth. Stay at this relaxed pace until you feel comfortable.

    • 6

Pedal faster to increase air resistance.

    Total Body Workout

    • 7

Grasp the handgrips with palms down.

    • 8

Exercise both your upper and lower body by using the leg muscles for pedaling while using arms and upper body strength to pull and push the arm levers forward and back.

    • 9

Alter the handgrip position to target different arm muscles while pedaling and pushing.

    Upper Body Workout

    • 10

      Grasp the handgrips, palms down.

    • 11

Place both feet on the footpegs adjacent to the fan wheel.

    • 12

Use only your arm muscles to power the machine by pushing and pulling the arm levers. Lean forward at the hips, keep your back straight and continue to operate the arm levers.

    Computer Operation

    • 13

Turn on the computer power button. Press the Start key to enter the Quick Start mode.

    • 14

Begin pedaling the Airdyne EVO and notice the three lines of information that appear on the computer's LCD screen.

    • 15

Read the top line of information to monitor your elapsed time of exercise and approximate miles covered.

    • 16

Read the middle line of information to monitor your power output expressed in watts, your average metabolic rate and your approximate speed if you were riding a standard outdoor bicycle on a level surface.

    • 17

Read the bottom line of information to monitor your total calories expended, calories-per-hour expended, pedal r.p.m. and heart rate, if optional heart rate monitor is attached.
