Speedo HR Watch Instructions

A heart rate monitor is a machine that detects your heart rate, giving you an idea of just how hard you're pushing yourself during a workout. While there are professional grade and athletic grade heart monitors that you can strap to your chest, there are also less expensive models that you can wear on your wrist that couple normal watch functionality with heart monitoring. Speedo makes such HR watches, and they're fairly simple to use.

Instructions

    • 1

Put the heart monitor on your wrist like a normal watch. Adjust the strap and be sure that it's comfortable for you, and that you can easily read the display.

    • 2

Place your fingertips against the reading pad. Speedo HR watches use fingertip heart rate reading, which is similar to the small clamps that you put on your finger in the hospital to monitor your heart rate. The pulses are then sensed through the fingertip by the watch.

Wait approximately 10 seconds. Once the 10 seconds are up and you've kept contact with the pad, the watch will take your heart rate reading and display it. This time taken away from a workout can be problematic, and is best done during natural rest points in your workout.
