Instructions

1
Consult with your doctor before beginning any exercise routine to see what type of aerobic program is advisable.
-
2
Find an area (50 to 60 square feet) to begin practicing the general mechanics of the grapevine move. Try a park, gym or any open space where you can practice the exercise in relative privacy.
-
3
Get a feel for the exercise by visualizing the 4-step technique. The basic sequence of the grapevine is as follows: take one side step, step across and in front of the lead foot, take another side step and step behind the lead foot. Review this sequence in your head until you feel comfortable with it.
-

Practice a few grapevine moves by stepping slowly through the sequence counting out each step (1, 2, 3, 4) as you go. Once you reach step 4, repeat the sequence until you get a nice rhythm going. Continue practicing until you can perform the move fluently without counting.
-
5
Find some music with a nice constant 4-beat pattern. Try keeping with the beat as you perform the grapevine. Once you have mastered the move, allow yourself to move with the rhythm of the music.
