How to Do the L Step Aerobic Exercise

Step aerobics are a great way to get a good, cardiovascular workout in your own home. The L Step routine combines forward steps with side steps. With the exercise's combination of kicks and steps, it can be provide a fun, low-impact workout.

Instructions

      Start by standing with your feet together and with your toes facing the long side of the platform. You should be standing in front of the right side of the platform, rather than at the center.

      Step up onto the platform with your left foot. Move your right leg up and kick forward. Step to the side onto the floor with your right foot. Step down onto the floor with your left foot, so that you are standing on the right side of the platform with your feet together.

      Go back the way you came. Step back up onto the platform with your left foot, kicking out with your right leg. Step back onto the floor behind the platform with your right foot and then step to the floor with your left foot.

      On 8 beats, repeat this process several times.

      Move to the left side of the platform to perform the same routine, stepping and kicking with the opposite feet. Step up with your right foot, kick with your left. Side-step with your left foot, side-step with your right. Move back onto the platform with your right foot, kick with your left. Step back onto the floor with your left foot, followed by your right.
