How to Control Kundalini Energy
Kundalini yoga combines the spiritual, physical and mental aspects of yoga practice. It has been practiced for hundreds of years but was not taught in the United States until the late 1960s. In Kundalini, a gentle form of yoga, you hold simple poses for long periods of time, concentrating mainly on your breath. People often feel a surge of energy while practicing Kundalini or directly afterward and the energy can feel out of control. This is normal, and it can be modified and brought under control.

1
Stop any exercise immediately if you feel a strange or uncomfortable energy rush. Some Kundalini poses may overstimulate the spine and contribute to the sensations you feel.
-
2
Stay balanced. Practice deep breathing outdoors. Other activities that will help you feel balanced include gardening, walking barefoot on the grass, or spending time with young children.
-
3
Speak with your yoga teacher. Tell her how you feel when you are doing Kundalini. She can offer you suggestions as how to balance and modify the energy.
-
4
Get plenty of sleep and eat a well-balanced diet. The inclusion of protein in your diet is particularly important.
