How to Make a Yoga Video

Even just a few years ago, making a yoga video meant hiring an expensive production team to film, edit and produce the video. With the ubiquity of laptop cameras and cameras that shoot in high-definition, you have the option to make your own video cheaply and with little outside help. If you have a tripod, video-editing software and a DVD burner, you can even complete the process yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a location for the yoga video. You can choose to record the video at home if you have a blank wall and a lot of space. Alternatively, hire out a mirrored dance or yoga studio to record your video or take the "set" out in to nature if you have a beautiful area near where you live.

    • 2

Sketch out the structure of the video. Create a flowing yoga sequence of appropriate yoga poses and counter poses. The class sequence should be created by a professionally certified yoga teacher. Map out the dialog and information that will be conveyed through the video.

    • 3

Practice the sequence and dialog on a few practice runs. This will cut down on mistakes when you are in front of the camera.

    • 4

Set up the camera on a tripod in you location and start filming a test video to make sure the angles and lighting are correct.

    • 5

Lay out your yoga mat and record the video. With digital video recording, you can take several takes and delete the mistakes.

    • 6

Load the video files on to the computer and open your video-editing software, like iMovie on a Mac or Windows Movie Maker on a PC. Add credits, titles and chapter headings if needed. Here you can adjust the volume and background noise and also add background music.

Save the film. You can skip the step of burning the film on to a DVD player by uploading the video straight to a video-sharing site such as YouTube or Vimeo.

Burn the video onto a DVD.
