How to Display a Karate Belt
Karate, the open-handed martial art practiced in far-eastern nations, is a sport and lifestyle encompassing many different traditions. For a karateka, or karate student, one of the most recognized symbols of advancement is the belt that indicates the level of training and expertise attained through long practice and study. Unroll each belt carefully and with due reverence for they are a symbol of rank.
-
3
Apply a steamed iron to any unsightly folds or wrinkles that are not a badge of honor for the martial artist.

Place each belt upon the stand. The traditional form of display will have the lower ranked belts at the top of the display and proceed in order to the highest rank at the bottom.

Tuck the loose ends of the belts into the display case if slots are provided. If not, tie them behind the display using the same traditional knot as when worn. This will vary by karate form.
