How to Build a Karate Belt Display

You can display karate belts in many ways. One is to wrap them around a laminated display board, which are inexpensive, easy to make, and can be displayed in a variety of ways, including being hung like a picture. A second, even easier way to display them is to create a pyramid of the belts. This is a bit more unique and can become a conversation piece.

Instructions

  1. Board Display

    • 1

Find a board that is the right size for the area you have to display the belts. If you want to hang it, you must consider the weight.

    • 2

If you wish to varnish the board, do so before attaching the belts so that the board will have a nice, even coat. Choose a work environment that is not too hot or cold as this will affect the application.

    • 3

Once the varnish has dried, warp the belts around the board and tie them together at the ends. Repeat this process with each belt. Once finished, make sure the belts are evenly spaced.

    • 4

If hanging like a picture, attach a wire or wall mount that can support the weight of the display.

    Belt Pyramid

    • 5

Buy heavy starch. Retail stores may not carry a strong-enough brand, so you may want to buy some from a dry cleaner.

    • 6

Wrap the first belt in a circle with some slack in it. Attach the end with a bobby pin and spray with starch.

    • 7

Repeat the process with the other belts, making them smaller and into tighter circles.

    • 8

Stack the wound belts on top of one another.
