How to Adjust Bunks With a Jet Ski

Trailer bunks are the diagonally positioned beams that hold watercraft, such as boats and Jet Skis, into place during transportation. The positioning of these bunks changes the way the personal watercraft is secured on the trailer, as each vehicle is different in hull shape. Before adjusting the bunks of your trailer, make sure you have access to water for Jet Ski launching.

Instructions

Back your trailer down the boat ramp, and set your vehicle's parking brake. Launch your Jet Ski in the water to adjust your trailer bunks. If you notice your Jet Ski is not properly secured on the trailer, it's best not to transport your watercraft just yet. Have a friend help you with this, as somebody should tend the Jet Ski while you adjust the trailer's settings.

Lower the trailer bunks to the absolute lowest degree. Most trailers feature lowering levers near the front, next to the winch.

    • 3

Load the watercraft back onto the trailer with the assistance of the winch. Tighten the winch so the Jet Ski is almost locked into position. Because the trailer bunks are still in the lowered position, your Jet Ski is not fully secured.

Raise the trailer bunks again. Continue turning the lever until the carpeted bunks fit tight against the Jet Ski's hull. Try to rock the Jet Ski to ensure the watercraft is secure. Unset the parking brake, and drive off the boat ramp.
