Installing the Batteries

Remove the battery holder from the flashlight by rotating the LED lens assembly counterclockwise.

Install the batteries into the battery holder. Be sure to match the "+" and "-" end of each battery to the polarity indicator labels on the battery holder.

Insert the battery holder into the body of the flashlight and replace the LED lens assembly.
Selecting the Desired Operation Mode

Examine the bottom end of the flashlight and locate the mode dial. Press its center button to operate the flashlight in "Normal" mode. Press the button for no longer than one second, because pressing it longer than one second activates the dial-select mode.

Turn off the flashlight by pressing the center button.

Rotate the dial to "Nite Lite" mode. Press and hold the center button, then release it after the XL100 flashes briefly. Set the flashlight down and its brightness setting will lower.

Rotate the dial to "Strobe" mode, then press and hold the center button. Hold the flashlight in a horizontal position and move your hand back and forth to speed up or reduce the strobe speed. Release the center button to save the desired strobe flash rate.

Rotate the dial to "SOS" mode, then press and hold the center button. Release the button when the device begins to flash the Morse code signal.

Rotate the dial to "Signal" mode. Hold the flashlight in a horizontal position, then press and hold the center button. Rotate your hand back and forth to activate on-off sequencing for the light.

Rotate the dial to "Dim" mode, hold the flashlight in a horizontal position then press and hold the center button. Rotate your hand back and forth to adjust the illumination setting for the flashlight, and release the center button to save the setting when finished.

Point the LED lens portion of the flashlight upward, then press and hold the center button. Point the lens toward the ground and release the button. Perform this action to "lock" the flashlight and prevent accidental turn-off or mode selection changes while in use. Follow the same procedure to "unlock" the flashlight.
